Surprise Utah Trip!

We had a blast surprising everyone for Thanksgiving!  The drive was long but well worth it!  Can you believe that was the first time Mike or I had driven there since we have been married!  We are spoiled!  Craig was funny when he opened the door and saw us!  It was fun!  We then surprised Barb like three days later.  The kids and I hid in the back bedroom and rushed out to surprise her after she got home from her trip to Boston.  It was a fun week.  Mike drove us out there, spent a couple days, then flew back home to work for three more days.  Lucky him.  He flew back Thanksgiving morning and got in at 7 am.  Then we drove home Saturday and Sunday!  We were disappointed that there was no snow.  We had just left 70 degree weather ourselves and was looking forward to playing in the snow.  Oh well.

On Mike's flight back to Utah one of his friends from high school Jared Wilson was the pilot!

As I was driving down Parley's Canyon to visit April I got a phone call from Ashley Dickman.  She jokingly says, "Are you trying to pollute all of Edmond?"  We had not told anyone we were leaving so she thought we were there.  I asked her what she meant and she proceeds to tell me that she thinks our house is on fire.  I plead with her to turn around and go check.  She drives up and says the smoke is to thick and can't tell what is on fire.  There are about 7 fire trucks from different stations there.  I hang up and call my builder and he says he just left 5 minutes ago and everything is fine.  I told Mark to turn around and go check.  He turns around and says, "Oh my gosh Heather, there is a ton of smoke."  I am hearing all this not knowing what is going on while driving down the canyon!  So not fun.  I call Mike's office in a panic and tell him to rush home because I am not sure if it our house or the new house.  He rushed over and turns out it was all of the forms for the walls that caught fire.  They were cutting re bar and sparked the fire in the pile of forms.  Apparently the smoke was incredibly thick and black.  Some friends saw it clear from the mall.  Everything turned out fine.  They got the fire out and we resumed building the next day.  Fun stuff!!!  Thanks for the pictures Ashley!

I made it to see April while still talking on the phone trying to figure out what was on fire!!!

I actually got an appointment for Lily to go see Dr. D'Astous on short notice to check out her hips!  They love Lily there and we love them!  She still has possible slight hip issues but not bad enough to do anything yet!  We always enjoy our visits to Shriners and turn out Lily is quite the celebrity there!!!

I popped in to see Uncle Darrel and Aunt Darla and Daylen's family Thanksgiving afternoon.  They had just moved to American Fork so I went to say hello!  Such fun to see family!

Turns out Uncle Darrel lives like 5 minutes from the Cavins.  I surprised them and popped into their Thanksgiving festivities.  I got to see Carrie's new baby.  She had her just two days earlier!  Such fun to see old family friends!

I made it back for the Hansen family dinner!  It was SOOOO GOOD!!!  We had so much food it was incredible!  It was a fun evening.  Ben and Maggie announced that they were pregnant!  Yeah!  They did a round of IVF and found out that morning they were pregnant!  So happy for them!!!

Craig and Barb gave Jake a really cool arrow for getting his Arrow of Light!  It was made by Barb's boss at work.  It is really authentic and was so thoughtful of them to get it for him!  This is a picture of the man who made it and Jacob!

The last day we were there we went to see Tom at his fire station in Salt Lake! It is right around the corner from Shriners Hospital and has a great view of the city below!

Utah Bound!!!

I realized a little late that we had the full week off for Thanksgiving.  Well, I was not in the mood to sit around the house all week so we drove to Utah to surprise the family!  Only Ben and Maggie knew.  I had Mike call right before we left to make sure everyone was going to be there and of course Barbara was going to be in Boston the first three days we were there.  Nice.  We went anyway and kept it a secret from all! The drive was long!  We stayed in Burlington, CO. the first night and made it there the next night at 7 pm!  Fun stuff!

Leif's Excitment!

Leif came home from school today proclaiming that he lost a tooth!  I asked him how and he told me the principal pulled it out!  That is awesome!!!!  His tooth was a little bloody so he went to the office and she just pulled it out! I asked him if he was scared and he said, "nope!"  I love this kid! They gave him a cool tooth necklace to put it in and bring it home!  So fun!

Tonight Leif graduated from reading class!  HE had so much fun and was so excited to get his diploma and huge candy bar!  Okay, he was way more excited for the candy bar!  He is a wonderful reader now!!!
