Trading Oklahoma Tornados for Illinois Earthquakes!!!

We went to Chicago this last weekend!!! Left the kids and took a nice weekend to relax and hang out. Actually, Mike did an oral sedation coarse the whole weekend and I partied during the day and hung out with him at night! It was a great four days!!! The first night we were there at 4:30 in the morning I awoke not knowing why I had waken. I never wake up in the middle of the night. Apparently there was a large EARTHQUAKE in the southern part of Illinois that could be felt in Chicago. I woke up right when it hit. Weird. We went to the play WICKED and it was awesome! I highly recommend it to anyone who can go. The only downfall to the trip was my luggage was lost. Oh well, it came the next day and all was fine!! We ate great pizza at Ginos East, had great steak at Mortons and enjoyed the city fully! It was the first nice day the city had this year the day we got there and apparently the worst crime day in the city as well. There were 36 shootings that day and 7 deaths one of which was right by the Oriental Theatre where we saw Wicked. Thank goodness it happened 20 minutes after the show was over and we were gone. They attributed all the crime to the nice weather. I went shopping on the Magnificent Mile, took a boat ride around the city and lake, went to American Girl Place (just wish I had Lily with me), and most importantly slept in and relaxed with no kids pulling on me! It was great!! Our hotel sat on the Chicago river and also had a wonderful view of the Lake. Can't wait to do it again! Of course I kept forgetting my camera everywhere we went so I did not get very many pics.

It only rained for a few hours the second day but was still fun!!!

What a Cutie!!

This is the only picture we got of us together at the Theatre. That was a great night!!!

Some big moose in the city. Mike liked it!

This building has many stones from other places around the world like the Berlin Wall, The Great Wall Of China, The Alamo ect...

Looks fun! Eric just happened to mention last night that there had been an earthquake in IL. Little did he know you were there! We had one our first night in LA, but everything was shaking, so we knew WHY we had woken up! Glad you had fun and that your mom survived watching the kids. Wendy

Wow. Sounds SO fun! Even the earthquake! The shootings made headlines in Utah even. Glad you know when to leave so you weren't around for any of that! I've been listening to the soundtrack of Wicked, and I'm dying to see it now. I hope you enjoyed it enough for me too!

WHAT?!?! Heather didn't go see Oprah? I thought for sure at some point in my lifetime, the bargain hunter Heather would make it on Oprah's "Favorite things" or "you-get-a-car, and you-get-a-car" shows! I'm glad you had a great time!
