On Tuesday this week we dodged our second bullet within a year. Another tornado hit less than 1/4 of a mile away. Last year one hit in almost the exact same spot but did not do near as much damage. It was Tuesday afternoon and I was on the phone with a friend right before I was to go pick up the kids from school. We were both commenting on how it was getting very dark and dreary outside and were excited because we both love the storms here. It turned dark quick. I hung up with my friend and started getting things ready to pick up Jake and Lily at school. The phone rang and it was our pediatrician. She said, "Heather are you still coming today?" I said yes but not until 4:30 when my appt. is. She nervously told me not to come because they were leaving. I asked why and she frantically told me to go turn on the TV, there was a tornado heading our way! Sure enough I turned on the TV and immediately heard the sirens blowing outside. The weather man said if you are near Santa Fe and Covell there is a tornado down take cover and it is moving north. Well, that is my intersection! I grabbed Leif out of bed and like the bad mother I am stood near the bathroom we are supposed to hide in during a tornado and watched the storm out the windows! I figured if the roof started to come off I would quickly shut the door and hunker down. It got really loud for a few moments and then quiet again! Yeah, we weren't hit! The kids ended up being on lock down at their school and could not be picked up until the storm passed. Thank goodness it did not hit their school. My parents ended up picking up Jake and Lily from school on their way home from the temple! Their windshield was hit by baseball size hail and cracked pretty bad. My brother, my parents, and our house survived this storm. Keep the luck coming!!! A house right behind my parents property was hit pretty bad and the neighborhood right across the street from us had some major damage.
Surprisingly Mike was not even bothered by this tornado. He did not even know it was going on. He had no power at the office and could hear the sirens but figured it was just precaution. the sirens go off a lot around here. I called him to tell him we were okay and he did not even know a tornado had touched down about a mile from his office! Yeah Mike you are now truly an Oklahoman!!!

that is crazy... much scarier than snow storms.
Wow, crazy story! Remind me not to live in Okalahoma, even if they do have good dentists!
You Oklahomans are crazy people! How can you survive so many tornadoes? We were thinking of you when we heard the news about this, and very glad to know you didn't come to any harm!!
