The Chickens Have Arrived!

Oh Boy!!! The BABY CHICKS are here! Go figure, they mail them through the US Postal Service. Poor little guys. We got a call from the post office to pick them up. I went outside to tell Mike and it was like watching a little kid in a candy store! HAHA He was so giddy! Eric and Wendy's family was in town visiting so they got to join in on all the fun! The kids loved them!

15 in all! Let's see how many stay alive now!

They were glued for quite awhile!!! Dad would not let anyone hold them for several hours until they calmed down from their journey!!

Finally dad says yes!!!

He is so sweet with them!

Lauren and Jacob had a special bond with the baby chicks. Lauren would constantly go out and check on them and was so genuinely worried about them. It was cute!!

I think Brenna likes them too!

Cute Brandt decided one day to let them all out of the cage and just play with them. The kids saw and screamed to us inside that the chickens were out. We hurried to gather them all up but one was still missing. We all figured that Mia had eaten it up and then Lauren, screaming bloody murder, went running toward Brandt on the trampoline! Brandt had one of them on there jumping around. He got nervous at all the yelling and starting squeezing it in all the excitement. Poor little thing was not the same after that. We are pretty sure that was one of the first ones to kick the bucket. Funny!!!!


Dad decided once everyone had gone home to let them play in the yard for awhile! It was funny watching the kids worry that they would all run away. They did great at corralling them and kept Mia at a distance. It was funny watching Mia really want to pounce on the chicks and just eat them, but after getting some lectures she actually did great!

Close call!!! Jacob gave Mia a good talking to after this!!
