Heather got me a kayaking "outing" last year for Father's Day. I bided my time for the perfect opportunity and then Jake and I took advantage of a hot and windy Oklahoma day. We kayaked along the canal/river system associated with lake Overholser southwest of OKC.
We hung out in the shade of a tree until we got the all clear and then off we went with the wind at our backs. Jake and I got in sync pretty quickly.
The canal merged into the river through 4 big corrugated pipes, just big enough to fit a kayak. We guided our way through about 50 ft of tunnel until we were in the river. We saw a ton of swallows that had made their nests on the bridge.
We turned back and headed home into the wind. What a workout. On the way back one of the guides had tied some bait to a rope and tied the rope in a tree hanging out over the river. He pulled it up and there was a 20 lb catfish on the end.
Pretty fun afternoon. We had time to pose for a quick shot in the rapids and then off to Sonic.
