Our Family Christmas Letter!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Mike, Heather, Jake, Lily, and Leif. We hope this letter finds you (or y’all) doing well! Why don’t we skip right to the cheesy updates that you will skim through quickly. I think the Chinese got it wrong this year, it has been “The Year of The Doctor” for the Hansen Family. Let me give you an example or two:
Jake had his tonsils and adenoids removed, which shut him up for 2 wks and when he would try to speak he sounded like he was huffing helium. We recommend the procedure if you have a real talkative one in your house. Leif had tubes placed in his ears, but only after nearly a year of ear infections and other ailments, which gave us our own parking space (engraved), and a revolving appointment at the pediatrician. By the way, kids under sedation, very funny. Leif also had hand surgery this year to separate a webbed finger, which all but squashed his chances of beating Michael Phelps’s records.
Lily has been back and forth to Utah, a few times. First, She had an Echocardiogram that showed she had an enlarged aorta. But after 6 months of growth and lots of prayers her exam in November showed that the heart had caught up with the aorta in growth and it was now considered normal. At the same visit they measured the curve in her back and showed that she probably has a straighter back than I do (0.03 degree curve), which was awesome news since she has not been wearing a brace or anything for months now.
Now that both Jake and Lily are in school Heather and I (and the kids) have been exposed to and contracted every virus, bacteria and who knows what else, known to man. Lets hear it for that petri dish we call public schools. The kids are loving school and learning a thing or two so I guess it’s not all bad. But we wish we’d invested in Health Care this year, then we might still have a 401K. Just kidding, on paper we still have a 401K.
Other than that, everything is about exactly the same as previous years. Heather still shops for the “most amazing deals” which go on “mega-sale” the week after we get them. Her, strategy is to buy and return so many times I need an accounting degree to understand what she actually paid. Ladies, call Heather for tips because it actually works, I honestly have no idea what gets spent. The kids are still cute as buttons, which most of the time is their only saving grace, and I still rock. We hope you have an amazing new year and maybe even get to see us some time.
Heather says I need to say something about Christ, what does she think this is Christmas or something? In all seriousness, we truly feel that we’ve been blessed far beyond what we deserve this year and are so thankful for the gospel and the peace that it brings. We pray that the Lord will bless you greatly this year.
Yours truly,
Mike, Heather, Jake, Lily and Leif
