Lunar Eclipse!
The kids were so excited about this event! The lunar eclipse coincided with the 2010 winter solstice for the first time in about 400 years!!! The last time these astronomical events took place in sync was on Dec. 21, 1638, and it won't happen again until at least 2094. Mike woke the kids up at about 1am and looked. They went back to bed and got up again at around 1:45 and woke me up too! Jake was so cute and had to grab his star gazing chart as well. It was fun staying up with the kids for about an hour watching the moon become totally covered. Good memories!
