Time For Mike's Yearly Spring Freak Out!!!

So we had a couple of tornado's come through our town of Edmond last night. Every spring Mike starts freaking out about tornado's and just knows we are doomed to be hit by one. Every year he says he wants to put an underground shelter in our garage, yet he never actually does it. He is so funny! Maybe this will be the year! We had a tornado probably less than 1/4 mile away from our house that did some damage and has the intersection closest to our house closed. There are a bunch of power lines and poles laying all across the streets. A few homes a little further away had the roofs torn completely off the house and other damage around the neighborhoods. Mike was up watching the news most of the night while the kids and I slept through it all. I did hear some big hail hitting our windows and some loud thunder but was too tired to actually wake all the way up. Poor Mike gets a little nervous this time of year and I am just used to it from growing up here. I also lived in an underground house all growing up, so we were never that scared of the storms. Mike has to remind me many times that I no longer live in the safety of that underground house! We are all safe and sound from this storm though.

Crazy Bushmans don't get worried about severe weather! Just go back to sleep and pretend you're living in an under-ground house!

that's crazy. we have similar weather in edmonton in the summer. the weather gets wacky. it will be boiling hot during the day and then at night it will hail and there will be huge wind/rain storms. there are tornados, but only outside the city in the fields. hopefully none of them will move into town. that's a good idea to have an underground shelter!

Hey, that works well. You get some sleep while hubby makes sure you are all safe!

i'm with mike and get super freaked out and wade's with you and sleeps through it all. the wind blows pretty hard out here (not tornado strong), but hard enough that i have to sleep in the basement if i'm going to sleep at all and wade doesn't even stir through it all. and i wouldn't be surprised if mike does build that underground shelter.

That too scary! I thought that the weather in Ohio was bad. I still remember my first night in Ohio when the tornado sirens went off, I was freaked out. Jason of course slept right through it. I still can't believe I am moving back to the midwest where weather is so Crazy! I am glad that all is well, but I think I would get an underground shelter.

I leave June 21st to go to Indiana and will be in Utah most of the time before that, so we will get together.

heather... i know! when i stayed with my aunt for a month (3 months after maya was born), she had both of them sleeping through the night. i need to take the bottle away. mackenzie on the other hand would flood our bathroom if we let her in thier by herself, so i think i'll still have to deal with getting up with her. when does it end!!!!

i get very worked up about tornado weather. we all move into our positions in the basement and wait for the sirens to go off. it is very scary and loud. i will not miss that about moving away from the midwest.
